Kathy started coming to the studio about 3 years ago. Her first project was a beautiful orange, double faced, cashmere coat. She was an experienced sewer but enjoyed learning new techniques and absorbed information like a sponge. We have become really good friends and I love her style. She plans her next project with discussion, fabric samples, sketches, pattern choices and then muslin.

She has produced some really beautiful garments, and even during the pandemic we were able to meet outside. Her sewing skills have now progressed to such a high level. I have missed having her in the studio every Monday morning, but hopefully that will soon change.

Enjoy seeing her creations! Jane.

Kathy chose this fabric as a remnant at Britex. It is a good weight and is a woven stretch. She worked an amazing chevron for the center back seam, and did some more matching for the raglan sleeves. I know she loves the comfort of the jacket with the front zipper.

Kathy just finished this lovely designer jacket. She bought the fabric from the studio and lined it with silk charmeuse. The shelvedge was so nice that she used it as a trim in places. The pattern is a vintage Vogue designer original that was in the Jane's studio stash.

The delicate blue silk fabric came from a trip to Hong Kong Kathy D took last year. She used an Italian Marfy pattern, and the front of the blouse is cut on the bias which creates a lovely draped neckline.

This is a “wow” make! Using fairly stiff home decorator fabric, Kathy, with a little help from me, has created this fabulous jacket. We both had an amazing time fussy cutting and matching. The jacket is unlined, but all the seams are bound with silk dupioni. The fabric is beautiful and enhanced by the addition of gold fabric, and the buttons are from Britex. Kathy used great skill in handling this thick fabric.

Kathy's dress was inspired by a garment she already had. She used a Spoonflower knit for the dress, and a Spoonflower chiffon for the sleeves in the same print. The front of the dress has a double tuck stitched to form pleats. This was repeated in a similar way on the sleeves. Very creative!
