Barbara Stengel wearing her border print jacket
This rayon border print fabric originally belonged to Barbara’s mother in Germany. It had been a pleated skirt, but Barbara had not worn it very much. So, it is now transformed into a wonderful jacket. It is underlined with flannel for warmth and then lined. The border print adds to its style.
Santina Handling wearing her striped top
Santina worked hard with this stripe matching, but it certainly makes a difference to the stunning results.

Ella wearing a dress made from Jane’s plumbago design fabric
Here is my little neighbor Ella. She is wearing a dress that I made for her out of my “plumbago” design fabric. Her mug is also my “plumbago” design. My garden is full of plumbago plants.
Jane Foster wearing her New York fabric jacket and pants outfitClose-up of the trim on Jane Foster’s New York fabric pants
I made this fun outfit from a fabric that I bought when in New York. I love the fabric and made the jacket and had enough for the pants as well. The trim acts as additional passementerie and I used it on the jacket and the pants.
Cathy Tonne wearing her knit print top
Cathy looks so cool in this knit top. She manages to find unusual knit prints. Cathy is tall, so all her patterns need extra length in the body.

Aliza Metzner wearing her lined coat made from Japanese fabric
Introducing Aliza who is new to the studio. She went to Japan last November and bought gorgeous fabric from nomura-tailor.com. The pattern she used was from the same store, and she has created this attractive lined coat in just a few months. She designed the patch pockets and bought the fun ball buttons at Stone Mt. and Daughter in Berkeley.

Cathy Tonne wearing her lined batik jacket - front viewCathy Tonne wearing her lined batik jacket - back view
Cathy’s lined jacket is beautiful. Large buttons called for magnetic snaps instead of buttonholes. We miss Cathy as she has left the area, but we are still in touch on Zoom with Valley Stitchers Guild.

Kathleen wearing bamboo print blouse
Kathleen made this blouse using a Sewing Workshop pattern, and the cotton fabric came from Jane’s Spoonflower shop. She’s especially drawn to the bamboo design because she serves as a docent at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and the symbols in the print translate to “bamboo.” A contrasting collar and cuffs add a thoughtful embellishment, while different shades of green were used to create the button fastening. The narrow green strip along the center front provides a clean separation between the prints. Kathleen looks fantastic in this blouse.

Keren wearing a blouse
Keren looks so good in this attractive blouse. The cotton fabric is unusual, and the buttons are a perfect match. Keren is an experienced sewist, and it’s so good to have her in the studio occasionally. She is a weaver and has made some beautiful fabric.

Tamar wearing a knit top
Tamar has made this sexy knit top. She subscribes to Burda magazine and copies most of her patterns from there. The top is striking and looks really good on you, Tami.
Vicki wearing her stripe challenge blouse
Vicki made this blouse for her “stripe challenge.” The beautiful cotton fabric came from Stone Mountain and Daughter in Berkeley and is by Kaffe Fassett. The stripe matching is so well done, and like all of Vicki’s sewing, it is beautiful inside and out.
