This rayon border print fabric originally belonged to Barbara’s mother in Germany. It had been a pleated skirt, but Barbara had not worn it very much. So, it is now transformed into a wonderful jacket. It is underlined with flannel for warmth and then lined. The border print adds to its style.
Santina worked hard with this stripe matching, but it certainly makes a difference to the stunning results.
Susan L. just finished making this top. She chose a fabric I designed from my Spoonflower shop online. I drew faces of my sewing students for fun. Susan looks great in this color.
Cathy’s fabulous French couture jacket is finished. The printed silk lining is luscious.
Joy Doyle bought this lovely Lady McElroy fabric from Stone Mt. and Daughter Fabrics and then gifted it to me! I just made The Frankie shirt by Sewing Workshop patterns. Thanks, Joy.
Zelda created this beautiful shirt and green pants. They both look so good. The pants pattern is one that she has refined through the years. The shirt is a Sewing Workshop pattern.
Here is my little neighbor Ella. She is wearing a dress that I made for her out of my “plumbago” design fabric. Her mug is also my “plumbago” design. My garden is full of plumbago plants.
I made this fun outfit from a fabric that I bought when in New York. I love the fabric and made the jacket and had enough for the pants as well. The trim acts as additional passementerie and I used it on the jacket and the pants.
Cathy looks so cool in this knit top. She manages to find unusual knit prints. Cathy is tall, so all her patterns need extra length in the body.
Introducing Aliza who is new to the studio. She went to Japan last November and bought gorgeous fabric from nomura-tailor.com. The pattern she used was from the same store, and she has created this attractive lined coat in just a few months. She designed the patch pockets and bought the fun ball buttons at Stone Mt. and Daughter in Berkeley.
Laurie just made this dress for her daughter’s graduation. It really suits her and she wants to make a sleeveless one now.
I sent Kathy a tip from Instagram for changing a basic pattern and from that she created this. It is SO great, Kathy. I love that I can motivate you. Kathy is SO receptive to the video tips I send her that I get from Instagram.
Cathy’s lined jacket is beautiful. Large buttons called for magnetic snaps instead of buttonholes. We miss Cathy as she has left the area, but we are still in touch on Zoom with Valley Stitchers Guild.
Keren has made this lovely summer dress. The cotton batik came from Cotton Patch in Lafayette. Pattern number Simplicity 592.
