Play for a Day -
Painting with Jane Foster
|
 |
Jane invited her students to join her for an
afternoon tea party
in early January 2008.
|
 |
Artist Mary Boalt visits Jane's studio, and students
have a fun day of painting on Steam-a-Seam2. The
painted Steam-a-Seam2 is then cut or ripped into shapes
and applied to silk or other fabrics. They are
then covered with organza for stability, and embellished
as desired. The finished pieces can be made into
purses, wearables, or wall hangings.

SWAP (Sew with a Plan)
was a contest put on by
Timmel Fabrics.
Participants make 11 garments that would mix and match
within a 4 month period. The garments consisted of
4 bottom pieces (skirts and/or pants), 6 tops, and one
jacket. Every top had to coordinate with every bottom
and the jacket had to coordinate with every outfit. This
made a total of 48 possible combinations. So, by sewing
a reasonable number of items of clothing, you had more
than one month worth of changes. Watch for
this year's contest on
Timmel Fabrics
website. Sally and Vicki
entered the contest, and Jane helped them with different
phases of their projects.

Students made garments that all
coordinated in a mini-swap with Jane's help.

they all wanted Jane to participate in another show in
September.

Jane made a jacket using the Diane
Ericson Java jacket pattern. Soon all her
students were making this jacket.
