If you
have any pattern matching or need more length to your cape,
then buy extra fabric. I added 3” to the pattern’s hemline.
Regular thread for sewing. The seams are serged. Basic
colors available but provide your own custom colors.
3
buttons …mine are 1 and ¼”
Stitch
Witchery’ Fusible webbing - narrow strip type. You
just need about a 12 inch long strip.
2 yds of
24” pre-shrunk interfacing (Armo Weft or Fusible Knit)
appropriate for your fashion fabric.
If you
have decided to bind the cape and the belt you will need 10
and ½ yds of binding/trim of your choice.
It is
helpful for you to consider whether you want to put a
binding or a trim on your cape. With a binding the
center facing is sewn to the cape wrong sides together, and
then the binding finishes the edge. If you are using a
trim, then the facing is sewn with right sides together, and
the trim is applied along the edge of the finished seams.
So it is helpful to decide if you will bind or trim your
cape. In the photo of Jane's black and white London
Cape, she applied binding to the edges. Jane will be
happy to talk to you about this decision.
Your
own sewing tools.
Your
lunch!
