Sewing Retreat with Jane Foster in Pacific Grove, CA

Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, CA

Sewing Retreat 2006

We had a wonderful sewing retreat with Jane Foster.  Two groups of ladies came for either 3 or 4 nights.  We stayed on the coast at the Asilomar state park on Monterey Bay, shopped in the local quilt and sewing shops, had fine dining, enjoyed each others company, and on top of that were able to sew from morning to night under the guidance of our wonderful teacher Jane Foster.  It was heaven!!!

Time for a photo and then off to lunch!

A group of sewing friends!

We had this fantastic building, with 3 walls of glass, to sew in while we were at Asilomar.

Our sleeping rooms were in this building behind our sewing studio.

Bambi was right outside our sewing windows with its mom.

Betty is having a great time shopping...she is in Lois Hinse in Carmel...but then Betty always has fun!!.

Outside Findings, a small shop in Carmel

Note that Jackie is not in the photo...still inside shopping!! She found amazing treasures on this trip.

Interior of Findings in Carmel. Lots of ribbons, antique buttons, a few quilting fabrics, and some silks, etc. A unique assortment for a small shop.

Everyone found something they had to have!

Debbie, Jane, and Vicki are in awe of all the goodies stuffed into Findings.

One of the students made a swim suit. Jane was able to give her a great fit.

She said it was the best swim suit she has ever had. We are waiting for the final picture.

MaryAnn and Jane designed a new jacket from some of the wonderful and interesting fabrics MaryAnn brought with her.

She and Jackie stopped at several fabric shops on the way to Asilomar.

Sally made her shirt and jeans. Jane was able to get a great fit for her.

Traci and Jackie enjoying talking with each other.

Two friends have a great time together!

Vicki E is working on quilting the lining of her jacket.

Vicki has beautiful blue eyes and a great smile. She is making clothes that all work together and complement her eyes, skin, and hair.

Debbie made the blue rayon blouse she is wearing - a perfect fit.

Debbie has a last fitting on her slacks. Jane says she now has a "Post Office butt"...one that looks great to the person standing behind you in line.

Mary Ann enjoyed the retreat, and we all enjoyed her!

After using the crotch curve and adjusting the pattern, Jane was able to fit these pants on Betty to perfection!

Laura finished numerous outfits for her daughter.

Vicki is working on her coutour jacket.

Jackie L very succesfully works with her dress form. Every time you looked up she had another outfit she was working on!!

Jackie found this great fabric at a guild meeting. She had this shirt cut out and sewn in just a few hours.

Janice made her jacket, dress, and then a purse!

Having fun and looking cute!

Sharon took a sewing break to look at the tide pools.

Betty made a great purse from a pattern Jane gave to all participants. Several women made purses to compliment the outfits they were working on.

Jackie is working on a Rachel Clark "Picture This" vest. She has the most gorgeous fabric and color combinations. Cannot wait to see it finished!
